Andy Kongsakul, O.D.
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Andy Kongsakul, a proud San Fernando Valley native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and his Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry.

He served as an attending optometrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City, specializing in strabismus and pediatric eye care. Additionally, he is skilled in fitting custom lenses for myopia management in children, as well as for patients with keratoconus and corneal transplants, helping them achieve clearer vision and improved eye health​
​
Beyond his private practices, he actively contributes to the optometric field as a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, San Fernando Valley Optometric Society, and Asian American Optometric Society. Dedicated to community service, Dr. Kongsakul has volunteered at the LACHC clinic in downtown LA, assisting the homeless population in Skid Row, and has participated in humanitarian missions with Unite for Sight, providing essential eye care to rural villages in Ghana.

When he's not working, Dr. Kongsakul enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring new cuisines, attending concerts, traveling, snowboarding, and cheering on the Lakers

Kristal Kawamoto, O.D.
OPTOMETRIST
Originally from San Jose, CA., Dr. Kristal Kawamoto started her SoCal life at UCLA, where she graduated with honors in Physiological Science. Her passion for health and medicine led her to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, also with honors. During her 4th year internships, Dr. Kawamoto treated various ailments from glaucoma to diabetic retinopathy at VA hospitals in Hawaii and Arizona. She also stayed active with various community service organizations, including trips to El Salvador, where she provided hundreds of much-needed eye exams.
Dr. Kawamoto was practicing in Gardena, CA before she made her move to the San Fernando Valley, where she joined the elite group of doctors at El Portal Optometry. Here, she continues her philosophy of forming lasting relationships with each patient and providing the absolute best care possible.
She continues to stay active in her community and profession as well, serving as president and now trustee for the Asian American Optometric Society. Dr. Kawamoto has a passion for the outdoors, animals, and food, and you will often find her travelling, snowboarding, or cheering on her favorite Bay Area teams.

Anne Shin, O.D.
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Anne Shin is from the Chicago area. She attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and majored in the field of Biology. Her interest in the health care field led her to pursue a career in Optometry. Dr. Shin earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and after graduating came to California where she began to practice.
Dr. Shin has many years of experience working in a private practice setting. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and practices full scope optometry. Dr. Shin is a licensed therapeutic Optometrist; certified to diagnose, treat and manage diseases and infections of the eyes and use therapeutic and pharmalogical agents.
When Dr. Shin is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She also is very fond of cooking all kinds of cuisines and enjoys running, reading, golf and playing/listening to a wide variety of music.

Gina Shao, O.D.
OPTOMETRIST
Needing eyeglasses since childhood has led to Dr. Gina Shao’s interest in providing eyecare for others. After graduating from UCLA with Microbiology and Molecular Genetics major, she pursued and received her Doctorate degree of Optometry at State University of New York State College of New York. During the program, she interned in rotations of pediatrics, vision therapy, and ocular pathology.
Dr Shao has been a member of Asian American Optometric Society. She has assisted in local vision clinics at Special Olympics, MEND, and RAM. She’s also had the opportunity to participate in a few eyecare mission trips to serve the people of Oaxaca, Mexico. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Outside of work, Dr Shao enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, traveling, photography, music, reading, knitting, and experimenting with recipes.
